About Me
I am an old soul, who is always searching for the balance in life--in work and play, in being a wife and a mom, in the give and take of relationships, in reaching for the stars and finding contentment where I am. I have been practicing yoga for almost 20 years, and began my mindfulness journey in 2017. I came to the practice in search of something to help my daughter with anxiety as a small child, and found that not only did it help her, it profoundly changed me. I found the open door to the balance.
I have a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre and had a successful legal career as a public defender. I'm also a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor (200YT) with additional certifications in Kids Yoga, Yoga for Special Needs Children and Mindfulness for Parents. I use everything I know in my classes, from acting games to active listening, and believe that it is my unique combination of learned experience that makes me successful in this work. I want to share everything I know and continue to learn with you, so that you too can find your balance.

I was looking for some mild exercise and peace of mind during my pregnancy that I couldn't get from my traditional workout activities. As someone who has never practiced Yoga before, Shana's classes were exactly what I needed.
Shana is a very friendly, fun, careful, thoughtful, and supportive teacher, and I always felt at ease in her classes. She has made Yoga approachable and relatable, while employing a constant connection to the breath that has helped in calming my mind during class. No matter the number of people in the class, she was always thoughtful to incorporate several pregnancy-friendly postures as individualized modifications for me. She helped me to work out my increasingly pregnant body, without ever pushing it too far. I always felt a lot better after class than before, more relaxed and more in tune with my body and mind.
Shana asks her students to connect to a prescribed mantra for each class, that helps us to ground our practice in intention. I never imagined that this would be something I needed in an exercise regimen, but I have found that it connects my mind so much more to what my body is doing, and brings a more holistic approach to working my body out in this way. I have felt much more peaceful, emerging from Shana's classes.
